Artifacts are objects of vast power considerably stronger than your average Magic Object. They are cleverly hidden and well guarded but they can great add of the power of the Character that possesses one.

Adding Artifacts

Artifacts are a special card type and are treated like Magic Objects but they have a few special rules of their own.
1. They are not shuffled into the Adventure deck at the start of the game. They are shuffled and placed to the side to create a draw pile and they are drawn only under special circumstances.
2. Artifacts cannot only be destroyed at Mt Doom or by the Unmaking spell. Any character that has an artifact that would normally be destroyed simply leaves it in his current space.
3. Artifacts are uneffected by all Spells except Unmaking.

Adding Artifacts II

To balance a game you might also take standard Magic Objects you think are too powerful (my choices: the Runesword, Solomon's Crown, Wand of Magic, and the Staff of Mastery), give them Artifact status, and shuffle them together with the regular artifacts at the start of the game.

Minor Rule Changes

1. Talismans might be consdered Artifacts as well.
